Job Description - Farm Hand

 

Role: Assist in the successful operation of the farm by assisting in the maintenance and care of livestock, pastures, fences, and grounds as needed.  The Farm Hand will be knowledgeable and experiences in operating basic farm equipment such as tractors, trucks, weed eaters, sprayers, chainsaws, etc. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently based on a list of priorities and will also take initiative to address needs as recognized.

 

Responsibilities (variable based on season and needs):

 

• Feed/check water cows, hogs, turkeys, chickens, and sheep as needed

• Maintain fence lines by spraying and weed eating

• Clear fence lines after storms

• Block and split downed trees

• Assist with general maintenance and upkeep of farm, may include cutting and stacking wood, general clean up

 

Requirements:

• Available to work 4-10 hours per week, schedule negotiable 

• Must be reliable, have experience in farm work - with strong references

• Valid driver's license with clear driving record

• Ability to lift heavy items, in excess of 50 pounds, and be on feet for extended periods of time
